examines the political, social and cultural issues surrounding immigration from the 1890s to the dawn of the 21st century.
Volume One of
this series features interviews with five important figures in the current
national debate about immigration and the nation's future.
Each DVD features unabridged commentary by a noted authority who
has been actively engaged in the immigration debate.
The interviewees in this first volume are:
Lawrence Fuchs - Author of authoritative studies on immigration
history, he was the Vice Chair of the U.S. Commission on Immigration
Reform 1990-1997.
Norbert Schlei - As a member of LBJ's Justice Dept., he was the
principal draftsman of the Immigration Reform Act of 1965
George Borjas - A Cuban immigrant, now a Harvard economist, he
is the author of Heaven's Door, a study of immigration's impact on
America's economy.
David Brower - First Executive Director of the Sierra Club, who died
shortly after this interview, he was considered for many decades
America's preeminent environmentalist.
Paul Kennedy - Yale professor and expert on world immigration
patterns, he is the author of Preparing for the 21st Century. |
